Mama Kits bring smiles to Expectant Mothers in Bushenyi By: Benitah Maria Namuddu
Under the wide blue sky, joy and gratitude filled the compound of a Bushenyi health center as dozens of expectant and new mothers gathered for a special outreach.
Our team arrived early, carrying bundles of mama kits, baby blankets, basins, soap, and other essentials that many mothers struggle to afford. For some, these simple items mean the difference between a safe, dignified delivery and one filled with anxiety.
Giving hope go the new borns
Inside the “Normal Deliveries” ward, we met mothers cradling their newborns, some still connected to IV drips. The ward was full but calm, with “Services Are Free” boldly displayed on the wall. Yet “free” doesn’t always mean a mother comes prepared. Many arrive with nothing to wrap their babies in.
Joy of a mother
Beyond the supplies, we shared health talks on birth preparedness, breastfeeding, and newborn care. We laughed, we listened, and we prayed together. The health center staff told us that donations like these reduce delivery complications because mothers come earlier, knowing they have what’s needed.
We left the health center with empty vehicles but full hearts, reminded that small acts of kindness ripple far.
