KAMPALA TRAFFIC!!! By. Benitah Maria Namuddu

The rain had already made its decision before the city did.

Cars parked for almost two hours

By the time the first droplets tapped against windshields along the stretch near ISBAT University, Kampala was already tightening into itself. Brake lights flickered on one by one like a reluctant chain reaction until the entire road glowed red. What should have been a quick drive turned into a slow, patient crawl beneath a grey sky.

Traffic here doesn’t just happen anymore it builds, it swells, it lingers. From Nakawa through Bukoto, the story feels the same: engines idling, drivers leaning forward in quiet frustration, and boda bodas weaving through the narrowest spaces as if they’ve memorized every inch of the road. The city moves, yes but reluctantly, like it’s carrying a weight it didn’t used to have.

This is when you regret choosing to own a car, just seeing your fuel tank drain in no time!!!
